South Korean Shin Ji-yai reclaimed the top spot in the women’s golf world rankings released this week, the sport’s governing body said on Tuesday.
The 22-year-old won the Evian Masters in France on Monday, earning 10.66 points to nudge Japan’s Ai Miyazato, who got 10.25 points, for the top spot.
The 2009 Rookie of the Year earlier held the top spot from the first week of May for seven weeks following the retirement of former No. 1 Lorena Ochoa.
But Miyazato, who won tour-leading three titles in the season, took over as No. 1 as Shin left the tour for several weeks due to an appendectomy in June.
American Cristie Kerr stands third and Norwegian Suzann Pettersen ranks fourth.
