Arkansas State’s new women’s golf coach from Okla. City

JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas State’s new women’s golf coach, Marie-untitledJosee Desbiens, comes to the Red Wolves program from Oklahoma City University, where she led her players to back-to-back NAIA national championships in 2008 and 2009.The hiring of Desbiens (day-bee-ENH’) was announced Tuesday by ASU athletic director Dean Lee.

 According to the announcement, Desbiens was associate head golf coach at the University of Oklahoma for 10 years before joining the OCU program.

 ”She is a proven coach,” Lee said. “She is an outstanding teacher who specifically enjoys the coaching aspect within that role.”

 A native of Quebec City, Canada, Desbiens was a four-year letterwinner and captain of the Sooners’ women’s golf team at Oklahoma, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration. She was a member of the Canadian national team from 1990-94 and was the 1990 Canadian Junior Champion.
